Video and sound-installation
Sunlight in its polychrome appearance is a natural part of our life as well as the sound polyphony. Both kinds of waves influence our living space continually. They penetrate everything.

I organize natural fluctuations of sunlight in a poetic statement:
«Sunlight playing with its own shadow».
Sound:
I organize human voices from a sound document taken during an anti-war street demonstration as well as from GPS data collected in the street.

“What’s your name?” – polychrome sunlight
The character of sunlight lives in its polychrome (spectral) aspect of light waves.
Theme:
The ever fluctuating real sunlight and its real polychrome character.
Universal, live-giving, energetic power of sunlight, coming from an endless width (light-year). Each living cell may experience it in the most intimate way.
By means of the light, color pictures document the visible life topography in which we are living.
Research:
Fluctuating light paths, moving sunlight-painting and moving sunlight sculpture.
Theme:
Emotional dynamics of polyphone sound waves (human voice) show our emotional and vibrating body breathing and its vital life presence in the socio-communicative, natural life environment.

Our living space is full of oscillation. Frequencies penetrate our bodies and operate numerous processes. I combined in acoustic form the topography of audible and inaudible frequencies. For the sound I used documentary records of an anti war street demonstration. This sound material expresses the living power of feelings (hope, deception, pleasure, sorrow, death).
Presentation:
Sound presence and light presence enhance reciprocally without illustrating or subordinating each other. As spatiality encourages a combined action of sound and picture
(and if this is desired), I can realize a sound = picture installation as well.
I would like to blow up the picture material taken of sunlight and present it in light language sequences, in a dramaturgical way. Moving sunlight and moving human voice frequencies may enhance reciprocally in presentation rooms creating new spatial contexts.

Die Basler Crossover-Künstlerin Maria Dundakova (*1939, Sofia, Bulgarien) ist die Grande Dame der Schweizer Multimedia-Kunst. Mit der Soundscape „How are you?“ fragt sie nach der Befindlichkeit und Emotionalität des Menschen, wenn er Lichtwellen (Sonne) oder Schallwellen (Stimme) ausgesetzt ist. Das Klima wirkt auf das Leben. Die Kultur aufs Klima des Zusammenlebens. Die natürliche Fluktuation von Sonnelicht erhält als Video-Bild eine poetische Aussage, denn das Sonnenlicht spielt mit seinem eigenen Schatten (keine Computergrafik, keine Animation, keine Effekte). Die menschlichen Stimmen von einer No-War-Demonstration erhalten als Audio-Material eine dokumentarische Funktion, denn sie stammen unmittelbar von der Strasse.
Die Wellenbewegung des Sonnenlichts trifft auf die Welle der Sprechchöre. Das unsichtbare Sonnenlicht erscheint überraschenderweise als etwas Sichtbares und Darstellbares. Die sonst in ihrer Darstellung allgegenwärtigen Menschen sind zwar plötzlich unsichtbar, aber dafür unüberhörbar, womit sie gerade dadurch umso stärker ins Bild rücken. Licht und Ton, Strahlen und Sprache, beide Arten von Wellen wirken permanent auf unseren Lebensraum ein und beeinflussen eines jeden einzelnen Lebenswirklichkeit. In dieser Soundscape von Maria Dundakova wird bewegliches Tageslicht mit beweglichen Menschenstimmen gepaart, das erhöht und verstärkt sich gegenseitig.
